We are excited to feature a new and upcoming Black woman-owned business in our spotlight – Klean by Kerensa! Just imagine a facial mask with 100% natural ingredients, including raw honey, shea butter, and coconut oil. Also, throw some eucalyptus or CBD oil into the mix to make the masks a nightly, calming luxury.

It is refreshing to see Black women break into this industry, and we have had the privilege of sampling the Klean facial mask – amazing! Check out our exclusive interview with Klean by Kerensa, and be sure to follow and support this business venture.

Something that I love to ask every woman entrepreneur is who they are at their very core – outside of the traditional roles of wife, mother, etc. Who are you at the very core outside of the titles?

At my core, I’m just a farm kid. I enjoy making things and creating things and growing things.

What prompted you to jump into the CBD industry? Was there a huge learning curve?

I was always interested in hemp as a cash crop and have wanted to grow it for the past 10 years. Unfortunately, Virginia is no longer on the cutting edge of farm expansion, so I’ve had to wait on having my hemp farm and have settled for using high-quality CBD oils in my products.

There are all types of CBD-related products on the market. What should a consumer look for when shopping for safe, authentic products in this area?

Always look for high concentrates, source information, and focus. Don’t use a pain relief product if you’re trying to manage anxiety.

What does a day in your life look like typically in managing a rising business and juggling everyday responsibilities? How do you practice self-care?

I’m not booming yet, but I will be. I plan to become a positive influential woman of color in the cannabis industry. My days are filled with coming up with new product ideas and finding the right target market. By day, I work as a support coordinator managing the care of individuals with disabilities, and I have a family. Self-care is meditation, taking the breaks I need, and exercising.

Tell us about some of your most popular product offerings and what they’re commonly used for.

My CBD-infused bentonite clay mask and CBD-infused Moroccan red clay masks are super popular, and I’ve gotten amazing feedback.  My CBD turmeric sugar scrub is also extremely popular.

For someone looking to get their feet wet in trying these products, what would you recommend trying first?

For CBD, in general, I would recommend a calming edible oil or a topical moisturizer or balm. For my products, I say start with the scrub.

Tell us how to locate you on social media and where to place orders.

Currently, orders are being taken through our Instagram. The website is being created as we speak…stay tuned!

Lastly, any advice or lessons learned for anyone looking to break into this field?

The only advice I can give is to stick to your dream and vision and use high-quality products. Make your business a priority and be authentic.
